Letter from Dr Indira Ganghi
Voici la lettre de demande de fond du Docteur Indira Gandhi pour le projet concernant les suites du Tsunami.
Respected Sir,
As you know very well on 26 december, the tsunami hit the mamallapuram coast also. The local fishing villages were decimated. 10.000 men, women and children have been displaced and are living in apms that consist of only of a structure to provide shade from the sun. Many people have died. Food and water are being provided but the villagers are in need of medical attenion. The staff of our Suradeep Hospital, located in Mamallapuram, have been going out to the villages daily to provide treatment and medicine. The suradeep hospital have been open for tweelve years. As you know I live next door to the hospital and is often woken up in the night to help my patients. The members of this community know me and trust my care. I am providing much needed medial care and I also providing the only form of emotional support that the survivors of this tragedy are receiving. I and my nurses work tirelessly to care for the needs of these families.
Our Suradeep Hospital is a private hospital. We do not receive support from any external source. In the past the hospital has regularly provided free care to accident victims and others patient who were unable to pay. Since the tsunami hit. the Suradeep hospital has been providing free care and medicine to everybody. The villagers have lostmembers of their community, their homes, and their livelihood. Many boats were lost at sea. The ones that remain are damaged and rest in the streetsof the leveled villages. Fishing nets are impossibly tangled with debris. It is estimated that the villagers will need to be provided 6 months of medical outreach while they rebuild their homes and get the tools they need to begin working again. We are willing to serve and support these families everyday. Medecine however costs money. So far we have been buying all the medicine being used to help the villages. The expense is high and we cannot single handedly sustain the cost.
So here it comes, my plea for help. If it is possible to send even the smallest amount of money it will be of great help. If possible you can inform the abode message to your friends and some organizations.
